Strictly Come Dancing's Aljaž Škorjanec cut all ties with the world for a month.
The professional dancer, 30, switched off his phone after he found he was "struggling" at the end of 2019.
Aljaž and Janette Manrara were forced to cancel a slew of dancing tours they had lined up for 2020 amid the coronavirus pandemic.
While they holed up at home, Aljaž used this time to "do nothing".
"In 2019 I had one week off and it was broken up into days," Aljaz told the Power of 10 podcast with Graham Bell.
"I literally had seven or eight days off in the whole year."
The choreographer would take time out to walk and get some air while at home.
He continued: "I was really struggling at the end of 2019. So when our tour in 2020 got cancelled I just said, 'I'm going to take this opportunity and do nothing.'
"So I switched off my phone for a month. I really switched off mentally and physically. The only thing I would do is go for a walk just to get some air."
Aljaž and Janette have lived happily together for 10 years but they have always been working.
The pro dancer confessed it was "interesting" for the couple to adapt at home while not doing much this year.
"Janette and I stayed in this flat for months. We have lived together for 10 years but we've always worked as well," he explained.
"So it was interesting to learn the dynamics of the two of us being at home but not doing much."
Aljaž and Janette both star as professional dancers on Strictly Come Dancing.
The couple were happily married in 2017.
